Many contracts need more than one signature, a customer and a co-signer, or a client and your account manager. Documents & Contracts supports multiple recipients on a single document, each with their own assigned fields and signature blocks.
When you add more than one signer, you can choose the signing order:
- Sequential, where each recipient signs one after another and the next signer is only notified once the previous one completes their fields
- Parallel, where every recipient receives the document at the same time and can sign independently
Sequential order is useful when an internal approver needs to review pricing before a customer signs, while parallel order speeds things up when signers don't depend on one another.
For the signature itself, you control which signature types are allowed: signers can either draw their signature with a mouse, trackpad, or finger, or type their name and have it rendered in a signature-style font. You can restrict a document to one type or allow both, depending on how formal the agreement needs to be.
To configure this, open a document (or template) and go to the Recipients section, where you add each signer, assign their fields, set the order, and choose accepted signature types before sending. Every signature is time-stamped and stored with the completed document for your records.
