Workflows can reach far beyond built-in actions with premium connectors to popular external tools and a Custom Code action that lets you write your own logic when nothing pre-built quite fits.
Premium connectors let you add native workflow actions and triggers for tools your team already relies on, including:
- ClickUp: create or update tasks directly from a workflow
- Airtable: sync records between your automations and Airtable bases
- Notion: create or update Notion pages as part of an automation
Because these are native actions, you don't need a separate middleware tool to connect them, just add the connector's action to a workflow like any other step, authenticate once, and map your fields.
For anything a pre-built connector doesn't cover, the Custom Code action lets you write your own script directly inside a workflow, supporting both JavaScript and Python. This is useful for custom calculations, calling an API that doesn't have a native connector, transforming data between steps, or implementing business logic that's unique to how you operate. The code runs as part of the workflow and its output can be used by later steps, the same as any built-in action.
Together, premium connectors and Custom Code mean a workflow rarely has to stop at "the platform doesn't support that", find the connector under Workflow Actions -> Integrations, or add a Custom Code step and choose your language.
